Issued 1930 (Republic of China Year 19) by Central Bank of China in Shanghai; printed by American Bank Note Company (ABNC), New York. Size approx. 158 × 81 mm. Main color: dark green/multicolor front, green back.

  • Obverse: Portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen at center, bank name “The Central Bank of China” at top, denomination “5” at sides and “Five Dollars National Currency”, Chinese text, “SHANGHAI”.
  • Reverse: Mausoleum of Sun Yat-sen (in Nanjing) at center, denomination “FIVE DOLLARS”, promise “THE CENTRAL BANK OF CHINA PROMISES TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND AT ITS OFFICE HERE… NATIONAL CURRENCY”, “SHANGHAI”.
  • Features: Running serial numbers; no security thread. Withdrawn; not legal tender. (Note: “Taiwan” in query may refer to Republic of China context post-1949 relocation, but this note is from mainland 1930 issue.)
