Description
This is an original State Credit Note of the Russian Empire for 3 rubles
1905–1912 issue with Shipov signature variant). Measuring approximately 150 × 98 mm, the obverse displays elaborate multicolored underprint (green dominant) with wavy ornate borders, the imperial double-headed eagle emblem, and prominent Cyrillic denomination “ТРИ РУБЛЯ”. The central panel states it is a State Credit Note exchangeable for gold coin without restriction in amounts of 3 rubles or more, per the 1897 law, containing 17.424 dolyas of pure gold per imperial ruble. Signed by Manager I.P. Shipov (И. Шиповъ, active 1914–1917) and a cashier (e.g., Ф. Чигирзинъ variant). The design includes repeating “3” motifs in borders and rosettes with the year 1905. This low-denomination note exemplifies everyday Tsarist currency during the gold standard era, printed in large quantities and used extensively through WWI and the early revolutionary period. Collectible for its imperial heraldry, signature variants, and historical transition from monarchy to Soviet era. Common in circulated grades due to high issuance.
