Description
Issued 1910 (printed/used into 1910s–1920s) by State Bank of the Russian Empire during Tsar Nicholas II’s reign; part of 1905–1912 State Credit Notes series. Printed on paper. Large size approx. 260 × 122–125 mm. Main colors: dark brown on light brown/multicolor underprint.
- Obverse: Central Cyrillic text “ГОСУДАРСТВЕННЫЙ КРЕДИТНЫЙ БИЛЕТЪ” / “СТО РУБЛЕЙ” (State Credit Note / One Hundred Rubles), imperial double-headed eagle, ornate borders with fruits/leaves, date “1910”, signatures (e.g., Управляющий / Кассир variants like Shipov/Metz).
- Reverse: Allegorical male figure (semi-nude warrior holding sword, symbolizing strength/protection) at left, regal oval portrait of Empress Catherine II (the Great, 1729–1796) at center in crowned frame with fur/pearls, intricate decorative patterns (floral garlands, grapes, scrolls, Medusa-like mask), large “100” in ornate shields.
- Features: Running serial numbers; watermark: “100” crosshatched and/or Catherine II profile at left; no security thread. Demonetized/withdrawn post-1917 Revolution; not legal tender – highly significant numismatic/historical collectible from late Imperial Russia, prized for artwork and Catherine II imagery.
