Issued 1 January 1961 by State Bank of the USSR (Gosbank) as part of the 1961 monetary reform (denominating new rubles at 10:1 old). Printed on paper by Goznak. Size approx. 140 × 70 mm (or 140 × 71 mm). Main colors: dark green/green on green/pink/multicolor underprint.

  • Obverse: Portrait of V.I. Lenin (profile, facing right) at upper left, USSR State Emblem (1956 version with 15 ribbons) at upper center, denomination “50” in rosette, text “БИЛЕТ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОГО БАНКА СССР” / “ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ”, assurance of backing by gold/precious metals/assets, date 1961.
  • Reverse: Kremlin Senate Palace (with USSR flag) and tower at upper center, large “50” denomination, promise text “ПОДДЕЛКА БИЛЕТОВ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОГО БАНКА СССР ПРЕСЛЕДУЕТСЯ ПО ЗАКОНУ”, multi-language denominations (Russian + republics).
